This is Gurdy the Turtle the main character in my old scrapped Pinball Turtles Game Project. It was a game inspired by Sonic Spinball and Goin Up, It was a vertical platformer pinball hybrid. Gurdy had the ability to throw a vacuum in a can that when thrown creates a vortex that sucks enemies in. And he had a geyser mine that suspended enemies in the air when touched.
His special was to shoot out multiple pin balls to hit the bumpers and targets to get more points.
He had a power ups as well when he grabbed the plunger it would give him a suction cup shell that allowed him to stick to, and climb up walls in pinball mode. Unfortunately I completely forgot what the second one was. Gurdy's name was inspired by the girder since he wears a construction hat, also the hurdy gurdy also played a role in inspiring his name. His shell is also made of metal so he wouldn't get hurt being launched everywhere.
When play testing the game the testers found the game to be really difficult so I decided to scrap it.
Just like Sonic Spin Ball it just wasn't fun to navigate something with such random physics.
Gurdy made a return in a Gif. I made for my Shuttle Switcher comic.
I really love this goofy little tortoise. Hopefully one day I could find a reason to use him again.
