3d Art and Mad Scientific expecades

I haven't been making art much (cause of reasons) despite all of that I couldn't resist but to tinker around a bit.


Just in case you missed it there's a subtle difference on my account banner, I finally faced my fears and started tampering with the Blender compositor.

Now the pixels stars glow instead of no.


The banner is a classic pixelizer staple. It's an intro a animation akin to the Disney Castle logo or the Paramountain and stars. I sporadically added them the start for my animated shorts for my history of 16 years on here, for all ye that know not.


In Blender I've learned the ins and outs of the Principled BSDF shader in Blender.

It's how I went from this ...

It looks good and all buuut...

My texture library is full of foreign textures by assorted artists, assorted sites, and even some of my own cartoony ones. Paired together the results look like a collage, super inconsistent. Just compare the above to the below.

So now that I know the rules of rendering realistically, now I can finally start to break them!

I've been trying to recreate my own 2d shading techniques into 3d shaders. Why? Simply put I want to crossover multiple characters into the same places for potential future projects, (like I've done in the past with my Shuttle Switcher Ghost Galaxy comic)

If everyone in Smash Bro.s had their original art style it it would be absolute chaos! Which is my current dilemma. It worked in the past for Shuttle Switcher Ghost Galaxy when all of my characters were absolutely bald and texture-less as seen below.

But now that I actually know how to texture I have to texture responsibly.


I have absolutely zero clue where this is going but fingers crossed.
